Sprayless Scratch Repair (SSR) is a patented process of scratch repair for cars. We undertook training and became SSR technicians in September 2021.
The system has been in place for over 18 years with proven success. SSR’s patented “Sprayless” process allows us to perform expert repairs on chips, scratches, and blemishes to your car’s paint. This long lasting repair will not fall out, wash off or become dislodged by pressure washing and as such is guaranteed for four years.
There are many ways that a scratch can be removed from a car. Bodyshop respray, SMART repair, machine polishing and now SSR. We specialise in the last two and if we can fix your scratch with our processes then we can save you considerable costs over SMART repair or bodyshop options. Some damage is always going to need the latter and is beyond the scope of SSR. The best way to think of SSR is as ‘French polishing’ for cars.
Machine polishing deals with micro scratches which are often referred to a swirl marks. The before and after images below show what can be achieved.
SSR deals with scratches that are beyond the scope of machine polishing and need some paint. SSR, by it’s very name, avoids the need for spray painting. It is very quick and dries almost instantly to the point that as soon as the repair is complete the car can safely be driven away.
There are always scratches and damage that will need the bodyshop or SMART but there are many that fall in the space between here and machine polishing.
The scratches on this door were beyond machine polishing. The only solution in such circumstances is SMART repair or bodyshop. Here is where SSR steps in. The uppermost scratch, in line with my fingers, is the deepest. The SSR process was applied and the lower scratches were completely removed. The deeper scratch was successfully resolved. It was still there and visible on very close inspection but from 1-2 feet away it was completely invisible. This deeper scratch, if left untreated, would eventually start to oxidise and rust. The SSR provides a protective layer between the metal substrate of the door and the atmosphere and as such prevents rust taking hold.
